Massive Attack

I've worked with Massive Attack and Robert Del Naja on many occasions over many years, (co)commissioning and creatively EP’ing music videos, and also creative development, taking the seeds of their ideas across film, tech, and experience, and working with the band to flesh them out into fully formed, fundable propositions.

Music video

At Virgin Recordsback in the day, I worked with legendary Head of Video, Carole Burton Fairbrother (IYKYK), on all the videos for Mezzanine - “Risingson” - d. Walter Stern, “Angel” - d. Walter Stern, “Teardrop” - d. Walter Stern, “Inertia Creeps” - d. W.I.Z. - as well as commissioning numerous videos for Massive’s Melankolic label.

From 2016-2018 I co-commissioned and creatively EP'd films for the band’s Ritual Spirit and The Spoils EPs, including, “Voodoo in My Blood” starring Rosamund Pike - d: Ringan Ledwidge, “Come Near Me” starring Arta Dobroshi - d: Ed Morris, and “Mad Lifeline” for Robert Del Naja's Battle Box imprint - d: Ed Morris, among others.

Massive Attack won UKMVA Video Artist of the Year 2016.

Development

Over the years, I’ve developed projects with Robert Del Naja that have ranged from an AI-driven reimagining of the Strauss opera Elektra to various feature documentary, tech, and film ideas.

“Andy is a brilliant creative and strategic collaborator and has been for years. He’s empathetic and patient with artists and can get the best out of them. He also knows a shit tonne of people who trust and like him across many different fields. That’s so useful. His network and frames of reference are ridiculously deep and broad.”
