Before Mill Digital, I ran the Colour Grading Department at Oscar-winning VFX studio The Mill. We worked with Shane Meadows on several projects, most notably Somers Town - entirely funded by Eurostar and made out of ad agency Mother - and possibly This Is England (the movie), but don't quote me on that.

Shane was colour grading with us when he told us about this ultra low-budget film he'd shot, Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee. It follows Le Donk, an ageing, deluded roadie played by Paddy Considine, attempting to launch the rap career of his protégé, Scor-Zay-Zee, culminating in a support slot for Arctic Monkeys at the Manchester Evening News Arena. Entirely improvised, shot in five days, £48K total budget, and naturally Shane had sod all left to finish it.

With the help of colourist Mick Vincent and flame artist John Thornton, we wrangled it through The Mill and got it into the world. Shane was always a joy to work with and, both being from the East Midlands, we talked a considerable amount of bollocks about the area too.
